I work in the marine education and engagement space. This project I'm pitching to a company who sells homewares. In particular dinner sets.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
I need a pattern designed inspired by my underwater photography of coral reefs and other marine imagery that will 'hopefully' feature on a dinner set. I'm taking a risk but I pitched the idea and the owner of the company was interested and wants to see what we can create. It needs to be bold, colourful and stand out and celebrate all that is wonderful about coral reefs. It needs to be modern and not date easily. I think you can look at corals reefs and the life that inhabits from an abstract perspective and also a macro perspective i.e the details of the scales of coral polyps, fish, close up of corals etc. Be as creative as you want. Be bold and be daring. I think there are two colour palette options: blues using aerial shots of the reef as inspiration and bold colours using marine life, corals as inspo.
1. Some designs that inspire me
2. Some patterns that inspire me
3. Some photos of marine life
You can also search for terms yourself for inspiration including 'reef, macro, coral, abstract, marine life, fish, clam, fish scales and get some inspiration from there.
PLEASE NO Kalediscope designs or children's cartoon style designs. Please stay away from turtles, whales etc.
I will work with you to refine the designs and provide some direction. let's create something that people will be proud to have in their kitchen and serve off. Also it's international year of the reef so what I better time to pitch this. Designers will be given dual credit on the final design if taken up by the company :)
