AIMS OF THE FLYER
The Institute seeks a new design for a direct marketing flyer advertising summer reading skills programs for preschoolers through 11th graders, which is distributed to teachers at elementary schools and then brought home to parents by students.
The aim of the new design is to generate more inquiries than the flyer we currently distribute through elementary schools.–The existing flyer has been uploaded. We are looking for a completely new design concept.
The design should appeal to teachers, so that they will be encouraged to distribute the flyer to students in their classes. It must also excite students to take the flyer home to show their parents, and in turn must appeal to parents to encourage them to read and react to the flyer.
The design should have a warm and imaginative feel.
The successful design will embody the fun and excitement young children feel about learning to read, as well as appeal to an older child’s enthusiasm about the worlds of meaning and adventure found through reading. We have uploaded sample images (“design inspirations”) that contain concepts we feel embody the excitement and spirit of learning to read. Please note many of the design inspiration images are from the early and mid decades of the last centurywhereas the new flyer must have a more contemporary graphic feel.
The primary audience for the flyer is teachers and parents of elementary and middle schoolers. Inquiries from the current flyer break out in the following proportions:
Program for 4-year-olds and Kindergartners: 12%
1st grade program (6-year-olds): 18%
2nd grade program (7-year-olds): 18%
3rd grade program (8-year-olds): 11%
4th & 5th grade program (9 to 11-year-olds): 19%
6th-8th grade program (11 to 14-year-olds): 17%
9th-11th grade program (14 to 17-year-olds): 4%
Program for 12th graders, college students and adults (18-year-olds and older): 1%
