Community & Non-Profit
Kiva is a nonprofit that allows individuals to lend as little as $25 to entrepreneurs around the world. The Kiva Fellows Program gives qualified individuals the opportunity to volunteer with one of our 146 Field Partners around the world.
What's your vision?
We would like to create a general brochure to promote the Kiva Fellows Program (more info/background here: http://www.kiva.org/fellows). The brochure should be trifold and contain both text and photos. Cover: The following text should be included on the cover page: Want to change the world? Microfinance is a great place to start! It should also include this logo (which can be found on kiva.org): Kiva | Loans that Change Lives The Kiva Fellows Program logo should also be included For a photo, we’d like to include an image of a road (pick the best from included images) This quote should be included somewhere as well: “Revolutionizing how donors and lenders in the US are connecting with small entrepreneurs in developing countries.” – BBC World (this quote can also be included elsewhere in the brochure) Internal: The following text should be included inside the brochure: What is Kiva? Leveraging the Internet and a worldwide network of microfinance institutions, Kiva lets individuals lend as little as $25 to help create opportunity around the world. Launched in 2005, Kiva has facilitated over $265 million in loans! What is the Kiva Fellows Program? Kiva Fellows are the eyes and ears for Kiva on the ground. They work in over 60 countries around the globe, strengthening Kiva’s partnerships with local microfinance institutions and connecting Kiva’s staff and lender community to ‘the field.’ Who are Kiva Fellows? There’s no such thing as a typical Kiva Fellow. Fellows have come to Kiva with a wide variety of personal and professional experiences and have ranged in age from the minimum of 21 to over 60 years old. Three classes of Kiva Fellows train and depart every year. Please visit www.kiva.org/fellows for the most up-to-date program schedule! “The only non-profit that matters” – Fortune Become a part of it at www.kiva.org/fellows The following inspirational quotes can be included wherever it seems appropriate (both are not necesary: “As a Kiva Fellow you find yourself involved in every aspect of microfinance during and after your felllowship - from meeting the engineers at Kiva HQ, working with your partner MFI in your host country, to visiting borrowers in the field, you get to see it all!” - Gustavo Visalli, Kiva Fellow, Guatemala “The opportunity to be a part of the Kiva family and work with one of their partners on the ground is a life changing experience. Not only did I learn a lot about microfinance and development, but I can also proudly say that I did so through one of the most innovative and well-respected organizations in the industry.” - Jara Small, Kiva Fellow, Tanzania The following statistics can be included in the text where appropriate: 74% of Fellows felt they were stronger applicants in the job market following their fellowship. 98% of Fellows felt that they had a stronger understanding of microfinance after their fellowship. A variety of photos are included, feel free to use any and all as appropriate.
