I'm an amateur graphic designer in need of some professional help. I have seen many companies make attempts at the Hispanic market, but I feel only few of them have been successful. Style is a predominant force in the culture, and I hope to influence emotion with my t-shirt designs. I'm looking for a graphic artist that is emotionally invested in their work. Someone who sees their style as an extension of their personality.
I tried a contest once before but was disappointed to find that my favorite designs used existing design components from http://www.chadlonius.com/static/freevectors.htm, so I pulled the contest due to copyright fears. This time around I'm guaranteeing the prize in hopes that it will entice more creative designs. However, I've already done a Google image search for "El Cucuy," and noticed that some of the previous designs used these images without proper authorization. Don't attempt to submit a design if it's not original or if you don't have copyrights to all the used components.
My target market is the young Hispanic Market in the United States. My designs should appeal to young professionals in their 20s (mostly 20-25 year olds). This calls for a young, trendy look, but not over-the-top childish. I best describe it as a style that shows they're mature, yet still up for a good time.
For this specific design, I'm targeting males.
Look at graphic tees from Express, DKNY, and Armani for guidance on what type of style I'm looking for. The concept of this design is "El Cucuy," which is the spanish boogeyman. See wikipedia for short background:
The goal of this shirt is to create a hip, stylistic shirt, but has a secondary (backdrop) design that's funny. To describe it best, I want people to, at first glance, appreciate the artistic design of the shirt then have a smirk as they realize that the design is comedic in nature.
Witty, but not childish funny!
Clear, clean typography (background can be as busy as you see fit)
20-25 y.o. age group
Print file format - .ai (CMYK)
Web file format - .jpg and layered .psd (RGB)
Please visit the current state of my site, which is a bare bones work in progress, at http://www.litachanclita.com for a glimpse of what stylistic direction I'm heading in.
Current designs were created by myself, so if you feel you can't produce something of a higher caliber, please save both of our time and don't enter this contest!
See attached imaged for style preferences. Have fun with it!
