Arctic Institute
The purpose of the Arctic Institute is, with special reference to Greenland, to expedite the work for the Arctic regions and to communicate the connection between Denmark and foreign countries.
It has developed from exclusively being an archive for diaries, fotos and other registrations from the Danish-Greenlandic expeditions as well as other relevant materials that could throw light on the Danish-Greenlandic history, into today to engage itself in a variation of communication projects, that are linked to the archives.
Our website is not large. We don't have many pages, but we have lots of data, our users need to access in an easy way.
The website has tree main areas:
1) The Archives, which are: documents, fotos, images, sound, movies, maps, objects etc.
2) The Knowledgebase, which are: old stories/traditions, old names for places, biographical encyclopedia of people etc.
3) About The Arctic Institute. Contact information's, board members, employees, the background of the Institute etc.
We would like a new website with a simple and straightforward design ("The scandinavian style") with focus on the tree main areas
Keywords are:
- easy to navigate around in.
- Continuous colors for the areas (The Archives, The Knowledgebase and The Arctic Institute) - must be more visible than today.
- A new slideshow with Theme-based news with content and images (The existing Picture carousel on the front page shall be deleted).
- We have more than 100.000 images of The Arctic. We should use them more. Please see: http://www.arktiskebilleder.dk/pages/search.php
The world's largest collection of historical photos from Greenland are located at http://www.arktiskebilleder.dk - Let us introduce pictures :-)
Front and content page should have:
- Logo
- a short text describing this website.
- a service menu with contact, print, flags (DK and Eng)
- links to Facebook, Linkedin etc.
- We don't need a search box in the top. Search is a part of each area, it's not possible to search across areas.
- Menu. We don't have many pages, so we want to highlight them all. However, divided into sections , if it's possible:
