tepring got their new web page design by running a design contest:
Design Refresh for Mainstream Church Site
Check out tepring's Web page design contest…
We are a large mainstream church in the Kansas City Metro. We are known for our local and national service and our progressive theology. We have two main target audiences: Church Shoppers - visitors who come to the site to learn about us and decide if they want to visit; Church members - visitors who are looking for calendar and activity information (rsvps, news, etc.)
We are looking to update the UX and Visual design of the cccckc.org website. We are not "rebranding". The updated design will instead create a modern visual look and layout while incorporating needed features such as responsive design and dynamic content. Design "musts" mobile-ready, responsive (meaning, design must work in a wordpress responsive architecture) Easy navigation - UX priority create a warm, welcoming feeling. Image rich - tell the story with pictures if possible forward looking - site should "weather" style trends for several years Assets: Dropbox with brand standards, images, and sample print collateral to pull ideas from: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/0iefaysk9xoafhi/AADypNTKmWdeo5h6gIyhGHDqa?dl=0 If stock art is needed, use depositphotos. Graphic standards document (fonts, logo treatment, etc.): https://www.dropbox.com/s/14wmyiaeotfktqw/CCCC_Graphic_Standards.pdf?dl=0 Also included is a wireframe draft. NOTE: Wireframes are an indication of the elements needed. (for example on homepage we'd like a hero image (or your best suggestion), 3 areas to feature activities with images, a welcome box, an address box, calendar, blog, etc...) WHERE and how they go on the page is open for design. https://www.dropbox.com/s/97k4y471n1i2dda/CCCCKC-Wireframes.pdf?dl=0 Other design elements: Blog posts - will be using lots of categorized blog posts to pull into the pages. Design elements include featured image and summary. Calendar - will be pulling in listings from a central calendar. Design elements include event title and date treatment. Wireframes include individual listings that will click to a specific event. We will heavily be using calendar data from a 3rd party system. Make sure there is enough room for the calendar elements in design. Navigation - Need top level nav and section navigation. Top level includes drop-down navigation options. OK to go back to top to enter a new section. We like breadcrumbs. Wireframes are suggestions, feel free to place navigation where best suits design.
3 Page types will need: Homepage (elements should be clear in wireframe) Connect Page - function of this page is to introduce the ministry areas captured under the top nav links (visually) and pass visitors through to the specific one they are looking for. Children & Family Page - Provide top level introduction, news, and blog posts focusing on a specific ministry area. Provides navigation to deep topic/leaf pages.
What to avoid
Please review brand standards. No browser plugins should be required to view pages.
