Value Proposition PolicyPals offers insurance products. Consumers can purchase policies using our services in a simple, transparent, and efficient way. Services The site PolicyPals offers (or will offer) two services: 1. a directory of all insurance agents in the US (Think Zillow for insurance) 2. the ability to connect to an insurance company, agent, or broker to purchase insurance In the near future, we will actually offer the ability to purchase on the site all the way from a comparison engine to the purchasing and payment. The focus is life insurance but home, car, and health insurance will also be covered. PolicyPals commits to helping consumers, not insurance companies. Each consumer is in a unique situation, PolicyPals believes in helping her/him get the right coverage. This can sometimes be complicated. We embrace that complexity by offering human-based advice rather than fitting consumer needs in a unique online form. Differentiation PolicyPals differentiates from other services by offering both a technology platform and a nationwide network of local insurance agents. Target Audience The target audience is defined as: - The decision-makers in US households with a yearly income exceeding $50,000 (top 2/3 of US household incomes) - The target age range is from 23 to 65. - Digitally savvy - regularly makes online purchases - People who value the convenience of a good user experience is an important factor: she/he wants to get back to a busy life - People for whom price is an important factor but convenience and value are also important Examples of typical personae are: - Young professionals who have recently left college and need their first insurance products (car insurance, renters insurance…) - Couples starting a family and buying their first homes (life insurance, homeowner insurance) - Professionals losing or changing jobs and in need of individual health insurance - Anyone moving homes, getting a new car, preparing for retirement - Some insurance products have specific target audiences but the site should appeal to anyone. The most important needs and feelings of our consumers are: - the need to purchase an insurance product and move on to a busy life - the confusion with the lack of clarity and transparency from incumbents - the lack of unbiased advice and convenient options Brand Statement of Purpose (draft, we are still working on that) - Mission: Provide financial security to all - Vision: Become the most trusted insurance partner - Purpose: Protect people and their assets simply, efficiently, and transparently - Moto: personal advice supported by technology Brand Personality - Trustworthy and dependable: that’s the reason for the “Pals“ in the name - Friendly, warm, accessible, empathic, and relatable: Wants to help. The opposite of exclusive, sophisticated, and elitist - Knowledgeable, subject matter expert, smart and articulate: understands the complexity of financial products, breaks it down by demystifying very simple terms - Successful and energetic: will work very hard to make consumers successful. We are 100% focused on protecting you, your loved ones, your health, and your assets.
Visual Styles: - airy, transparent, clear, easy to read, simple, no-nonsense, honest - authoritative, financial expertise, knowledgeable - friendly, inviting, inclusive - dynamic, energetic - modern design We like the idea of a site with a mostly white background and one or two main accent colors. We don't like the current shade of red though. We'd also like to have a color palette to use in pictures, graphs, chart and visuals throughout the website (example: https://www.moneygeek.com/insurance/life/) We need a font that is easy to read: our pages can be content heavy, and the topics discussed sometimes complex.
A. Homepage: policypals.com - The top section should offer the site's two main services: 1) find an insurance agent or 2) get an insurance quote online - the general sections of the current site are OK so keeping the same general wireframe is fine - the goal is to make the whole design more "modern" and more professional B. article page: example: http://policypals.com/life-insurance/choose-right-life-insurance-policy/ This is a template page with several different elements such as a table of content called "in this article", a list of links to other sites, data tables, lists, definitions ... The goal is to be able to re-use these elements in other articles. C. state page: example: policypals.com/find-insurance-agent/alaska/ This is a page that we will roll out for all 50 states. The goal is to show the specificities of insurance in each state. As for the article page, the sections of this page are to be repurposed and used as templates across other state pages.
PolicyPals is still brand new. For now, our agent search service only works in a few states (Washington, Wyoming, California...). We are adding new states every week and expect to have full US coverage by March. This is a Wordpress site. So ultimately we will need a theme from the winning design. The winning design will be used to create a style guide: colors, buttons, fonts... will all be re-used across the entire site.
