THIS IS ATTACHED AS A PDF.
The PDF has images and is much easier to read.
The redesign of GoExplore.com consists of 5 distinct page designs, as follows:
Create Post Form
Post Display page
Simple, clean lines & edgy-cool
Responsive, adheres to Bootstrap
Layered in a .psd file
Any notes designer deems helpful to splicing in the design
Home page sections in mostly top-to-bottom order:
Top & Bottom Banner Sections
Top: logo, search bar & links which are: post, browse, & signup/in (This is different than what is currently displayed)
GoExplore Admin Section
Open space for admins to put a photo, links & video. The dimensions of this space should be in the modern style found on websites like redbull.com & Patagonia.com
Recent Posts Section
Currently the middle column on the home page of goexplore.com. This section displays the most recent posts in a thumbnail image with content. We are changing the thumbnail content to be: picture, title, sport(s), location & views. We like this look but are open to ideas:
GoExplore Signup Section
This should be an eye-catching section designed to entice signups. There needs to be a button/link that goes to the signup page. Copy: “GoExplore is by real people who thrive on outdoor sports. Share and record your adventures. It’s easy breezy.”
Sport Search Section (currently the left column)
We’d like to use the following icons (see design files attached to contest) The colors and border style of these buttons can change but the figure shape should remain the same. The buttons will lead to a page that lists the posts of that sport.
Search by Map (currently below sports in left column)
We are open to design ideas with the map. We’d like something to happen to the continent when scrolled over or tapped (lightup, glow, shake, whatever… we’re open to ideas) We also like the idea of a button popping up with the number of posts in that continent and the button leading to the page that displays the posts in that continent. (this is already coded from a technical standpoint but the graphic is lame)
POST DISPLAY PAGE
This page is vital to the success of GoExplore.com. This page displays the info captured in the ‘create post form’ page. It is wrapped in the generic page design. We are hoping these post pages will be shared millions of times on social media. It is currently a jumble of information that is difficult to follow. It needs to be transformed into something that is easy to read and cool. Something that you would be proud to share with the world. Another way to look at it is a microblog of outdoor adventures. It should include the following elements. (the rest of the current info will be removed)
Number of Views
Number of thumbs up and thumbs down
Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Google+, & Pinterest share buttons
Sport Icons & Sport Links (currently icons next to the title and activity links are not together)
Member (currently ‘Posted by’ with no picture)
Photos (current widget will remain)
Post your own adventure in ‘location’ button
Comments section, Sign up or Sign in button
This page will have three main sections:
GoExplore Signup (see current website for fields)
This copy will be used:
Explore it. Post it. Record & repeat. Signup and post your adventures to share and remember. GoExplore.com is by real people who thrive on outdoor sports. Get stoked and go explore.
This page will encompass the dashboard page, browse page, profile page and other pages that list posts.
Heading type at top
Place for a photo – whether it be a member picture, sport icon, etc.
Sort function. If you look at the current browse page you will see that the posts can be sorted by activity, location & rating. We want to keep the sort feature for this page but it could be more prominent.
Side bar for sections with post thumbnails, links & photos
Note: we will be changing the word ‘activity’ to ‘sport’ throughout the site. Not sure how relevant that is to the design but just thought it was a good to know item.
