How AaronBeats started their web page design journey

Summary

Here is your chance to take part in the concepts and designs of a site that what we believe will revolutionize the music industry and put the control of music back into the hands of the listeners. Read the brief thoroughly. Keep in mind, there could be multiple prizes for the site layout, badge icons, award icons, etc.

Check the video brief at: http://jambuzzer.com/jambuzzer-desi…-99designs
This should hopefully help!

What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?

Note: for those of you who want the 'drawing' in the video, you can download it here: http://www.jambuzzer.com/jambuzzerideabreif3.jpg

but please remember, use this only as a reference for what should be on the main page. DO NOT feel like you have to use the same placement and specs, let the ideas flow freely! :)

JamBuzzer.com is a social music site that enables artists to post songs and get madd exposure, while allowing music listeners to control what is listed at the top by voting, or ‘buzzing’ the songs that they believe are jams, aka hits.

Think of it as the digg.com of the music industry. But keep in mind, that it will not look like the typical boring tech site, but like a full-fledged 2.0 community site. In the music world, music is rated and listed on ‘Billboard.’ But at JamBuzzer, this will be known as the ‘JamBoard’ or ‘BuzzBoard.’ This will be a feature built into a section of the homepage, and also there will be one for each category of music.3 1/2 Pages: Splash/Landing – Main Page – Profile Page – Jam Page(this is the ½ page because it’s basically the same theme just with different info in the content area)Colors: Candy Apple Red/Mahogany Red, Black, Gray, White…make sure that there is good use of contrast for ease of useNavigation: General Links up top: (see video)JamBoard:Genres:• R&B• Rap/Hip Hop• Pop• Rock• Gospel• Jazz• Acoustic• Latin• Reggae• Country• SoulMore genres will be added later.Profiles:Artists will be able to create profiles with pictures, and their music. They will be able to ‘upload a new jam’ and that jam will be put in the genre list to be buzzed. The more times a jam gets buzzed, the higher up in the rankings it moves, and eventually it is possible to get moved up to the first page.Listeners/Fans will also be able to create profiles and buzz and become fans of their favorites jams/artists. There will be a section on the homepage for a ‘featured jam’ or ‘featured jammer’ and also a ‘featured buzzer.’Also, there will be a music player on the site that would play the ‘jams’ and allow people to buzz the jams from right inside the player.Jam Reward System:There will be a reward system based on the amount of buzzes that a jam receives. Here is how it works:Music artists/musicians and record labels sign up for accounts and post their own new music, along with a description of themselves as well as their songs. The songs are posted individually, and are known as ‘jamz.’Users who are not music artists sign up for accounts and gain access to new music from artists all over. They are able to listen to songs of the artists, and when they hear a song that they like, they simply click the ‘buzz it’ button to give the song a ‘buzz.’This works in a similar way as Digg.com and Propeller.com, except they are geared more towards tech and news ‘stories.’ JamBuzzer.com is geared toward the music industry, filling a gap in artist promotion and fan awareness where social sites like MySpace left off.For a new or up-and-coming music artist, the name of the game is building their buzz to get heard and known in the music industry. So the more ‘buzzes’ a song gets on JamBuzzer.com, the higher up in ranking that song goes. Getting on the front page or even to the top of the front page of each category means more exposure and ‘buzz’ for that artist.Regular users of the site also get to download certain songs for free, depending on if the artist makes the song a free download or not. Users can also ‘become a fan’ of the artists that they enjoy, and be notified whenever that artist uploads new music. 9 Icons/Badges for Jam Status:There will be different statuses for artist’s songs depending on where they are in the number of buzzes they have:1-10 Jam11-29 Cool Jam30-49 Official Jam 50-99 Hot Jam100-299 Bangin’ Jam300-499 Silver Jam500-999 Gold Jam1000-1999 Platinum Jam2000 & Up Grammy JamUsers would be notified each time that an artist in one of their selected genres of interest reaches a new jam status. So, there would need to be cool icons designed for each of these statuses.Splash/Landing Page:• Intro video in cool looking skin at top right or top left• JamBuzzer logo at top right or top left• Paragraph about JamBuzzer• 2 cool looking columns ‘Benefits for Music Artists(Jammers)’ and ‘Benefits for Music Lovers(Buzzers)’Jam Page:This is basically a page kind of like on digg, where when you click on the jam it takes you to a page where it shows more info on the page, maybe has a link to the site, and has a ‘who buzzed it’ section at the bottom with names and avatars of the members who buzzed the jamSites We Like (design-wise):socialspark.com

Similar Sites/Competitors:imeem.comilike.comlast.fmAlthough these sites are similar, the response that I’ve gotten from users is that they are boring and difficult to use. JamBuzzer must be new and innovative, and fun. If we are to become a huge influence on the music industry and be effective to the young users, then the site must have a look that appeals to the generation of users.

Wants

• Crisp cool young looking web 2.0 graphics with glazed look
• Vector images that resize well for award icons
• ‘Official Certified JamBuzzer Artist’ badge for artists to put on their blogs/sites
• ‘Official Certified JamBuzzer’ for fans/buzzers’ sites/blogs
• Everything to be clear and easy to use
• Splash/Landing Page
• Main Page with Buzzboard
• Profile Page
• Jam Page for jams, just like digg.com’s ‘story’ page that shows ‘who buzzed it’ and ‘who dizzed it’
• A cool looking button that says ‘Random Jam’ This will work kind of like the ‘Stumble’ button at stumbleupon.com

Cool Graphic that says 'Get Your JamBuzzer T-shirt' and another talking about the 'JamBuzzer Artist Revenue Sharing Program' or 'Artists, Get Paid from Your JamBuzzer Jams!'

An area for comments about the 'jams'

Don't want

• Don’t want the site to copy imeem and ilike, want it to be unique and innovative, and be better than the mentioned sites.
• Don’t want you to be too distracted and mind-blocked by the drawing that I’ve provided, but want you to be creative. Use the drawing only as a tool for placement ideas or as a reminder of what’s to be included.
• Nothing amateur looking or boring. This is going to be an industry mover, and should have the look of a billion dollar company?
• Everything must be original and unique. I don’t want to go through any legal issues;)
