We determine the subjective preferences of visitors and use that information to help recommend t-shirts that they might be interested in.
These are just a few sites we found over the course of an evening and should by no means be considered a definitive or comprehensive list. Although we liked many different features throughout the list, do not feel obligated to use all of them. In fact, if you did try to incorporate all of them, we feel the page would come across as forced and tacky.
http://www.madebycreature.com/ - Like the non-white background with the touch of color (pink wouldn't really work for our site though), don't like logo, don't like any of their portfolio sites
http://8interactive.com/ - Like the simplicity of the site above the fold, could do without the graphic along the bottom
http://www.oscarbarber.com/ - Simple, clean, to the point, interesting use of shadows and textures to give the page an illusion of depth
http://www.freshview.com/ - Like the simplicity, and the color scheme feels young and fresh
http://www.globalzoo.de/ - Like the background and the use of colors to highlight different elements of the page, not a fan of the shadows on this page
http://www.feelbreeze.com/ - Clean, fresh design
http://drtims.com/ - Simple, like the color blocking but colors probably too deep/dark for our site
http://www.jeroenhoman.com/ - Like the texture of the background and how it brings out the portfolio example thumbnails
http://www.deliciouslycreative.com/ - Simple, clean, nice use of color
http://www.brettchaney.com/ - Kind of like the asymmetry/angles of the "Featured Work" section, not sure this would necessarily work for us
http://elegantweb.com/ - Like the background, like the logo, like the ribbon in the upper right, however, think the text gets lost on the page
http://www.shyamagolden.com/ - Love the way this page shows off the portfolio items, but still provides useful navigation features
http://augustinteractive.com/ - Like the use of color and texture
http://www.elixirgraphics.com/ - Like the graphics
http://www.panic.com/unison/ - Like the use of color to emphasize elements in the page, like the look and placement of graphics
HOME PAGE
This is the landing page and the page where visitors will spend 90%+ of their time on this site.
We'd like this page to be simple, clean and elegant. Our target audience is likely between the ages of 16-28, single and computer savvy (and shops online comfortably). We want a site that will be both youthful and fun, but not alienate users outside of the stated audience.
The main components of this page are, in order of importance (see existing site for reference at http://www.threadseeker.com):
1. 2 Shirts Being Compared
2. Suggested Shirts
3. Links (About, Help, Shirts You've Liked)
The page will be used to determine user t-shirt preferences by presenting the user with 2 options and asking them to indicate the shirt they like better. Over time, these options will become more directed and the shirt suggestions will become more personalized. Feel free to play around with the site to get a feel for how it works.
We are looking for something that has a unique feel to it (not template-y) and that will help us distinguish our brand. You are free to experiment with whatever layout you feel would best accomplish this.
Check out our site to see the types of shirts we are currently displaying. Your design should complement the majority of the shirts available (showcase the shirts, not overpower them).
Please feel free to message us if you have any questions. We're ideally looking for someone with an elegant/clean design aesthetic that we work well with and can call on for the addition of future pages to the site.
We've attached some of the shirts from the site that you can use to demonstrate the visual effect of your design. You may also choose to copy different shirts from the current site, if you wish.
We'll respond to questions and entries during the evening (PST) every day.
