Tadpole Adaptive is an online retailer specializing in mobility equipment for children with special needs. We specialize in selling wheelchairs, standers, walkers, sitters, car seats etc. We are a new startup and are preparing to enter the marketplace with our online store launch very soon.
We are going to have 2 entities we'll be focusing on: Our store, focusing on the equipment and all the information related to those products, and our social media (blog, facebook, and youtube) acting as a resource for parents and therapists to connect, share, and get information on products, what's new, and what's out there.
Parents of children with special needs.
We want children with disabilities and their families to feel comfortable with our brand. The store will be selling items geared towards children with special needs including walkers, special needs strollers, Standing Devices, Specialty Bath Equipment, etc.
Examples of these items can be found at Rifton.com, snugseat.com, leckey.com.
These items are frequently not paid for by insurance and parents will be purchasing these items to benefit their children. The items can be very expensive at times. These items help children participate more fully in school, family activities, go to the store, see a movie, etc. We want parents to understand what this equipment can do to improve the
lives of their children. Most importantly, parents must effortlessly navigate our site to configure this equipment.
We will be selling products for kids with disabilities but the target is their parents, in paticular “Facebook Moms” these mothers are combing the internet looking for information for their kids, we want to act as a discount provider of these goods (cash only, no insurance headaches) a place to get in touch with a therapist, and use our social media to connect to other moms and kids.
Most important goals of this design:
Have a unique look and feel for the store that set our image as fresh and fun but as a serious place for parents to find the best in adaptive equipment for their children. Your design will be integrated into a BigCommerce template. Here is a basic template that we are basing our redesign from: http://ameliaco.mybigcommerce.com/index.php
Set ourselves apart from our competition:
http://www.adaptivemall.com (they are #1 and the gold-standard in the industry and their site is a mess)
http://www.especialneeds.com (better looking, layed out well, but not “fun” and engaging, a bit too “medical”)
Splash page that gets across what we do, a very good example of this is: http://www.getyubo.com/ (this is a BigCommerce store and is an excellent example of a template redesign)
We really like these 2 pages that use elements like textures and drop shadows well: http://www.projectvino.com.au
(I also like the use of scripted fonts like “itʼs free” that add a personal touch to draw attention to something, and finally, the tab that moves to where you have navigated to is very professional)
This is possibly a bit too much but we like the layered, textured, look.
Please see included files and PDF for more examples and ideas.
Thank you designers for making our vision possible and good luck! Feel free to ask questions!
