bne
Business New Europe is the only online magazine covering business, finance and politics in Central, Eastern and South Eastern Europe.
http://www.guardian.co.uk - clean long layout
Front page:
==
see attached PDF. This is a good indication, but we want to make it less like a print page and more like a web page. We want to redo the menu to be a dropdown menu as outlined in the menu.jpg image attached. This may includes links and potential snaphots of PDF front pages (monthly magazine)
Also, see the bne.eu site - we like this but we need to move forward. The design components of the old site are included in BNE_photoshop_templates.zip - you are welcome to use these.
Also, it's important to understand that there are 2 "types" of news article on bne
- bne article , aka story - which is something like what you see at the top of the current bne.eu site - stories about stuff. A bne article is written by a bne staff writer.
- bne dispatch - containing small "blob" articles - A dispatch is a mail newsletter that is comprised of a selection of blob (small) articles (from 5 - 50 depending). There are a lot more blob's that articles (as many of the blobs are from external sources)
You can see on the current site (bne.eu) the dispatches are all shown in a big horrible grid with the last three instances of dispatches shown. We would like to instead feature the top three blobs from each of the latest dispatches in a "tabbed" layout - to make better use of the screen real estate.
We would also like to separate the dispatches in dailies and weeklies (each containing multiple dispatches).
We want to push more of both the blobs an stories on the front page (our content is our strength).
We would like to include more news abstracts (preview inc header) on this front page, including more news stories between the middle horizontal banner and the video block on the current mock up.
We would also like to include a special report section on the front page - a special report is essentially a collection of articles + a pdf. You can see a list of the special reports here http://www.bne.eu/sr_list.php - we quite like the "tram line" approach at the base of the http://www.guardian.co.uk site. I have attached image of this guardian-base-tramlines.png
Also, we want to relay the concept of hieracrchy (top most important , then moving down the least important and more constant - top updates daily - some special reports will hang around for awhile).
Also, we would like to squeeze in "Most popular" as well.
And we have an Issuu edition (print mag) as well as some PDF versions of a print mag. We would like to include these in the right sidebar or as part of the expandible menu.
Have included the zip file containing the existing photoshop components.
