neckAttack
Our company specializes in relaxing people. Our massagists are booked by companies to offer neck and shoulder massages at large events and fairs to help exhibitors (and visitors) relax after a long day. They also massages stressed out office workers. This is the main focus of the business. All massages are through the clothes of the customers.
The second business focus is bar/pub massage where our massagists swarm out on a massage pub crawl and offer relaxing neck massages to guests of bars and pubs.
http://beingwicked.com/ - very clear and simple (a nice picture missing)
http://www.fonolo.com/ - (very nice, but the sliding pictures are irritating)
http://www.mint.com/2/ - friendly, clean and with very a clear call to action (though a bit overloaded)
http://www.madebysofa.com/ - straight to the point
1.) Frontpage
The frontpage needs to be clean and simple, with a clear call to action for potential customers. The web site is backed by an extensive backend web application, so there needs to be a non-obtrusive way for existing clients & partners to log in.
The visitor needs to recognize straight away that he is on a professional massage site (with bar/pub massage only accessible via a menu item, not to be represented on the frontpage). Three sections should be visible:
First, “Events and Fairs,” which contain calls to action for people wanting to book masseurs for trade fairs and similar events,
second, “Office Massage in the Workspace,” which contains calls to action for people wanting to book masseurs to come visit them at their office,
and third, “Australian Massage,” which contains information about one of our company’s USPs.
(The wording of those 3 sections is not yet fixed, it’s just a general description of the respective target audiences.)
2.) Content Page
A Content Page contains a main menu (preferrably horizontally arranged), a main vertical column of content and a secondary, smaller, column for addidional widgets.
Content Pages should be able to contain at least those elements:
* blocks of text with several layers of headlines,
* ordered and unordered list elements,
* image & movie galleries (i. e., thumbnails arranged in a grid)
* The design should appeal to a youngish (20-40yr), modern audience, with those two audience sectors highlighted:
(a) People who are working in the event management or promotion sector, i. e. typical customers for massage on events and fairs.
(b) Businesspeople in general, who are typical customers for business massage at their office or their own fair.
All demographics should be represented on the front page - probably in 3 separate sections of the frontpage layout? – and there should be a means to structure the whole site around those three groups. (Maybe with colour schemes which can also be applied to menus later on?)
* The overall appeal may be similar to iOS’s and Apple’s current look, i. e. clean lines, not too much gloss. Overall design should be minimalistic, with not too many options to choose from, but those options should be very prominent. (See example http://www.mint.com.)
* The design must not be in any way esoteric, i. e. no dolphins, exotic yoga postures or similar. Straightforward massage is what we’re best at.
* An Australian flavour might be added, as one of the massage types offered is Australian massage. However, it should not look as if it were a travel agency (as the current site "design" does).
* Our new logo is attached to the briefing. If possible, this should be used, but if you have a brilliant idea that could make the logo obsolescent, don’t hesitate to submit it!
We will be online EACH DAY during the contest and will try to provide INSTANT feedback on your designs.
