No. Colors are welcome, but too many colors should be avoided. The logo will also be used as black-and-white in some contexts.
(1) DO YOU HAVE A SLOGAN YOU WANT INCORPORATED IN YOUR LOGO?
Yes. Flexibility of using one or even two of the statements below (in either Portuguese or English versions):
Portuguese:
Programa de Pós-Graduação em Entomologia
Universidade Federal de Viçosa
English:
Post-Graduate Program in Entomology
Federal University of Viçosa
The logo will also be used in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Program next year. Therefore, a reference to the fact will be attached to the logo next year (suggestions are welcome).
(2) IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO COMMUNICATE TO THE DESIGNERS?
Insects afford an extremely large variety of shapes, structures and colors worth exploring. Regarding insects, I should mention the main species focus of attention in the Program likely to draw attention of potential audience: ants (particularly leaf-cutting ants), termites (mainly soil termites), maize weevil, grain borers and other grain beetles (e.g. bruchids), bees (honey bee and native stingless bees), predatory soldier bugs, lacewings, predatory and parasitoid wasps, horticulture caterpillars, thrips, white-flies, leaf miners (coffee leaf miner), tomato pinworm (or tomato borer), crickets (and grasshoppers), and a few others.
